The U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made a speech for IFF 2012 Annual Conference. According to the speech, the world has been facing a series of challenges nowadays, such as economy transition. Many countries have suffered the adverse impact of financial crisis, including subprime crisis, economy downturn and high unemployment rate. Meanwhile, we are faced with the threat of environmental deterioration. At present, the financial system has been questioned for its capability to tangibly promote the economic growth and bring people a better life. So we should reestablish an international financial system with larger inclusiveness to meet needs of more people and build up the philosophy of fairness. The system should be people-oriented to enhance the dignity of life and create more opportunities for people. IFF has provided a notably valuable platform for both exchange and innovation. Here I hope you can show your ideas to poverty relief during discussions in the next two days, thus gaining achievements to help realize goals of the new century development and laying a solid foundation for the fair and sustainable redevelopment in future.
