Zhu Xian, Former Vice President of
the New Development Bank (NDB)
to Take up the Post of Secretary General of
International Finance Forum (IFF)

International Finance Forum (IFF) recently announced that Mr. Zhu Xian, former Vice President of the New Development Bank (NDB) and former Vice President of the World Bank, will take up the post of Vice President and Secretary General of IFF on July 7, 2021, and presides over international liaison, cooperation development, international affairs and academic guidance of IFF.


Mr. Zhu said: “Since its inception, International Finance Forum (IFF) has been committed to promoting cooperation and development in international finance over the last 18 years. With ever increasing international influence, it has developed into a high-level platform for global financial dialogue. In the post-epidemic era, although based in China, IFF will continue to gear itself to the global needs, contribute ideas and solutions to the sustainable development of the world economy and cooperation in coping with global climate change. Meanwhile, IFF will focus on its long-term development and strengthen its efforts in international network, academic research, member services, etc.”.

Mr. Zhu Xian previously served as the Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of the New Development Bank (NDB), in charge of the overall operation of the institution, including project loans, operational compliance, project procurement, and the operation of its regional branches. Before joining the NDB, he held senior positions at the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He served as the Vice President and Chief Ethics Officer, Directors of relevant business departments, and Executive Director for China of the World Bank; the Senior Adviser of South Asia Department and Director of Cofinancing of ADB.

Mr. Zhu Xian has worked for the Ministry of Finance of China for a long time, and has served as Director-General of the International Department, Deputy Director-General of Treasury Bond Department and Deputy Director-General of World Bank Department. Mr. Zhu graduated from the Department of Western Languages and Literature of Peking University, majoring in English, before studied at the Department of Economics of the University of Pittsburgh, USA, and was entitled Heinz Scholar.

International Finance Forum (IFF) is a non-profit, non-governmental independent international organization based in China. Founded in October 2003 by leaders of more than 20 countries and regions such as China, the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and related international organizations, it is an institution for high-level permanent dialogue, exchange and research in global finance, and is designated as "F20 (Finance 20)" in global finance.
