On November 5, 2018, the first China International Import Expo, which brought the power of the whole country and gathered world wisdom, was officially opened after more than a year of preparations. The in-depth and inspiring keynote speech delivered by President Xi Jinping’s gave the people of the whole country a great encouragement to adhere to reform and opening up, and inspire millions of friends from all over the world.

The trend of the world is unstoppable.

As mentioned in Chairman Xi Jinping's keynote speech, "economic globalization is an irreversible historical trend and provides a strong impetus for the development of the world economy. The reason that we regarded it as a historical trend is that its development does not bend to the will of human beings. What we mankind can do is to understand, adapt to, and apply the rules of history, instead of prevent it from taking effect. "The road that China has taken in its 40 years of reform and opening up is a path to conform to the world's general trend. In 1978, China’s GDP was only $268.3 billion, but by 2017 it had soared to $12.25 trillion. In 1978, China’s per capita GDP was only $155, and by 2017 it had grown to $8,700, especially in 2001 when it joined the World Trade Organization. Since then, China fully integrated into the world with the belief in economic globalization, and hence made great achievements in economic and social development. In 1978, China’s foreign trade import and export totaled only 20.9 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for only 0.8% of the total world trade. By 2017, China’s total import and export volume reached US$4.0 trillion, making it the world’s largest trade country for the fourth consecutive year. Even in this year, when protectionism and unilateralism rise, economic globalization encounters twists and turns, multilateralism and free trade system are affected, instability, uncertainties increase, and risk challenges intensify, China still conforms to the trend of world economy globalization. From January to September, China's foreign capital investment exceeded 70 billion US dollars, becoming the world's largest foreign capital utilization; outbound investment exceeded 85 billion US dollars, still in the ranks of countries with the most foreign investment. It can be seen that the wheel of history will keep rolling forward, and those people who follow it are prosperous while against it failed . We should continue to follow the what President Xi Jingping has said in his keynote speech,"we need to establish a set of global economic and trade rules that is fair, reasonable and transparent, and promote trade and investment liberlization and facilitation to make the global economy more open through greater exchanges and integration. "

A great vision, simple and pure, requires credible actions.

China's door will open wider to the outside world. China will remain a strong advocate of openess at global level, and will continue to act as a stable engine of global growth, a big market with enormous oppotunities and an active supporter of global governance reform. The five major initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping's speech-stimulating the potential for increased imports, continue to broaden market access, forstering a world-class business environment, exploring new horizon of opening up and promoting international cooperation at multilateral and bilateral levels- is the foretell of our country, reforming and expoloring endlessly . In particular, it is necessary to talk about the efforts to create a world-class business environment: the World Bank's 2019 Business Environment Report, just announced, has given the world a new surprise. Under the efforts of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, China’s business environment has risen by 32 places, from 78th in 2018 to 46 in the 2019 , becoming one of the ten fastest-growing business environment. The improvement of the business enviroment is an on-going proces, and there is always room for things to become better. we will continue to work hard under the pressure of trade protectionism and unilateralism. Specifically, what ew do is conducive to China's economic and social development. In general, it is a great contribution to the world economy. Therefore, President Xi Jinping proposed that "the rules of the World Trade Organization should be upheld firmly, its necessary reforms should be supported and the multilateral trading system should be defended". That is China’s new contribution to the development of the world economy and the courage to be a responsible country.

Coordinated development and win-win cooperation.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the state has successively put forward the "One Belt and One Road" initiative, the development strategy of the free trade zone, the coordinated development strategy of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the development strategy of the Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Dawan District. This time, President Xi Jinping clearly stated that we will expand the China(Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone to include a new section , and will encourage and support bold and creative steps by Shanghai to advance investment and trade liberalization and facilitation so that more of its successful practices may be replicated in other part of China. We also launch a science and technology innovation board at the Shanghai Stock Exchange and experiment with a registration system for listed companies We will also support Shanghai in cementing it position as an international financial center and a hub of science and innovation, and steadily improve the fudamental insititutions of its captial market. We will support integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region. We will make it a national strategy and implement our new development philosophy in real earnest. We will build a modern economic system, and adopt higher standards for reformsand opening-up. The region will develop in tandem with the Belt and Road Initiative, the Beijing-Tianjing-Hebei coordinated development area, the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and will help improve the overall layout of China's reform and opening up. The close integration and exchange promotion of these five national strategies and an international initiative will greatly inspire the people of Shanghai, the Yangtze River Delta and the people of the whole country. The 40th anniversary of reform and opening up will witness our determination and courage to start again.

The sea is full of rivers and rivers.

Located at where the Yangtze River flows into the Pacific Ocean, Shanghai has been a pioneer of opening in China. Openness, innovation andinclusiveness have become the hallmark of Shanghai. They are also a vivid reflection of China in the new era and its commitment to development and progress. Attending the event are 172 countries, regions and international organizations, more than 3,600 companies with a total exhibition area of 300,000 square meters, and more than 400,000 Chinese and foreign buyers who are here to explore business deals. This provided us a study oppotunity. The first China International Import Expo will surely set a new benchmark for promoting the structural reform of the supply side and make new contributions to solving the contradiction between the people's growing needs for a better life and the uneven development.

As President Xi Jinping said in his keynote speech: "China is the world’s second largest economy. We have a market of more than 1.3 billion consumers who live on the land of over 9.6 million square kilometers. To use a metaphor, the Chinese economy is not a pond, but an ocean. The ocean may have its calm days, but big winds and storms are only to be expected. Without them, the ocean wouldn’t be what it is. Big winds and storms may upset a pond, but never an ocean. Having experienced numerous winds and storms, the ocean will still be there! It is the same for China. After going through 5,000 years of trials and tribulations, China is still here! Looking ahead, China will always be here to stay! "We will work together to advance towards the goal of building a community of common destiny and create a better future for mankind!
