Steven Alan Barnett

Mr. Barnett is the International Monetary Fund’s Senior Resident Representative for China. Prior to that, he worked as an Advisor to the Deputy Managing Director. For much of his career, however, he covered Asia. His positions included Chief of the China Division in the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department, Assistant Director at the IMF Office for Asia and the Pacific in Tokyo, Resident Representative to China, and Resident Representative to Thailand. Prior to joining the IMF in 1997, he earned his PhD in economics from the University of Maryland. He has a Bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University as well as a Master's degree in Russian and East European Studies, also from Stanford.

WANG Tao

Dr. Tao Wang is a managing director and head of Asia Economic Research at UBS investment bank. She leads a Number One ranked team that covers macroeconomic and policy issues in Asia and China, and she has ranked as the top China/Asia economist in multiple Institutional Investor and AsiaMoney surveys. Prior to joining UBS, Dr. Wang was Head of Greater China Economics and Strategy at Bank of America and Head of Asian Economics at BP plc. Before joining the private sector, Dr. Wang was a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During the eight years she spent at the IMF, Dr. Wang was involved in program negotiations and annual consultations with member countries in Asia (including China), Europe and the Middle East, and published a number of research papers. Dr. Wang is a member of the Mainland Opportunities Committee of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council and a member of the Chief China Economists Forum.

Dr. Wang received her Ph.D. in Economics from New York University and her bachelor’s degree from Renmin University in Beijing.

Dan Wang

Dr. Dan Wang is currently the Chief Economist of Hang Seng Bank (China), responsible for China related research, macro forecast, Sino-US relation and geopolitical risk analysis. She's regularly quoted in international media and write columns for several media, including FT China, Caixin and Pengpai (the Paper).

Before joining Hang Seng Bank, Dan previously worked for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) where she spent 5 years as China Chief Analyst, leading forecast and research. Prior to that, she was a postdoc fellow in Chinese Academy of Sciences as an economist, specialising in agriculture.

Dan holds a PhD in economics from University of Washington, with a focus in macroeconomics, environmental economics and econometrics.

LIN Jianhai

Mr. Jianhai Lin was formerly the Secretary of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), its Board of Governors and the International Monetary and Financial Committee. He is currently Executive Vice President of the International Finance Forum and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee. He is also an honorary professor at School of Economics, Peking University, and the China Foreign Affairs University, as well as a visiting professor at several other universities. Mr. Lin joined the IMF in 1989 and was appointed to the position of the Secretary in 2012. During 2012-2020, he oversaw the Secretary’s Department that had the operational responsibility for the 24-member Executive Board and served as the official contact of the IMF’s 190 member countries on institutional, governance, and other major policy matters. He was also responsible for organizing the IMF’s Spring and Annual Meetings.
